The saddest day: life mourns the death of Eduard Punset

Paradoxically, today, on the International Day for Biological Diversity, the day we celebrate life, we have known of the death of Eduard Punset.

Furthermore, his death has noted the saddest day of our short life: this is the most painful moment since the birth of BioSciCat.

Today we pay our most sincere tribute to Eduard Punset, the best ally that BioSciCat has had to carry the message of nature and life to all society.

In recent years, we have had the pride and luck of sharing with him the production of “Someretes al Cap” (Dreaming Someretas), the last work in which Eduard Punset has participated.

“Someretes al Cap” is a documentary film that uses narrative and cinematographic language in an attempt to create a strategy that allows nature to be brought closer to all society, without exception, to move it and engage it. The film establish a magical universe to narrate a beautiful and moving story that fate created capriciously, intertwining the existence of small creatures and great men, among which is the childhood of Eduard Punset.

As Guillermo García, Director of the film and member of BioSciCat, recalls, “it is not that it will take time to find someone like Punset again, it is that we will never see anyone like him again: he was unrepeatable. Eduardo had an overflowing intelligence, but at the same time subtle and extremely sensitive. He possessed a magical seductive power, capable of opening doors and dimensions of thought in our minds that we could not have even imagined that existed. He was simply unique. We will not be able to forget the devastating and hypnotizing truth of his gaze, and of his hands".

The BioSciCat team that has participated in the production of the film, has been fortunate to discover that all that sensitivity that he possessed, as well as that original way of understanding our position in the world and our relationship with others, had its origin in the relationship he had in his childhood with nature: “I have learned more from animals than from men”, he came to affirm.

It has been a gift for all of us to have shared with Punset the filming of “Someretas al Cap”, his latest intellectual legacy, through which he has revealed to us that most intimate and unknown aspect of his biography: his childhood, and his relationship with the animals and nature, which would forever mark and guide his thinking.

From BIOSCICAT we want to pay tribute to the figure of Punset, a man of overflowing wisdom and an irreplaceable moral and intellectual reference in the great issues of our society, and particularly in the fight against nature and in the need to love and respect all forms of life. The film “Someretes al Cap” is the final legacy that EDUARD PUNSET leaves us:
